She is a lurcher, rabbit hunting type of dog, but she is not keen on rain.

what the weather?
The weather is being very bad at the moment. It is winter of course, down here in the Southern Hemisphere, but we expect a little more from our winter weather in our part of the woods, it is usually pretty good. I am trying to finish painting the house and it is pelting down with rain day and night so I can't. The garden weeds are having a great time thriving in the conditions mind you, but the dog is not so keen and has spent much quality time on the sofa amongst all the nice new cushion covers I have just made.

a warm coat for the dog
My dog is a skinny little Mutt, and now that it is getting colder we thought she might need a nice warm coat. I found an old anorak of the girls and with very little tweaking got it to fit her.
It is like a back to front halterneck with the zip on the top and the arms cut off. and there is a cute little pocket to put her treats in.
She looked very sweet if not a bit embarrassed this morning on our walk to school, but at least she wasn't cold.

windy rainy day.
The weather has been amazing for weeks, not bad for autumn/winter, beautiful clear sunny days and cold frosty nights. But today as predicted by the weather service, it is rainy and windy. The dog needed a walk and so we decided to go to the dog beach so she could sprint around in the weather.
A rather lurcher photo heavy post, but she is so strong and amazing when she runs, it makes me laugh when she goes full pelt, it is something else.
all went well until some people turned up with a full team of Huskeys?! (we live in a rather un-snowy little town) who decided that poor Mollie (dog) looked rather interesting and it would be fun to chase her. So off she went up the beach followed by about eight huskeys. Poor thing was so scared, she can out run most things but they were big and there was lots of them, and I am afraid I didn't take any photos, as it looked rather good.
Back home to dry clothes and a hot chocolate and a fire. Lovely!

today
Today I went for a 2hr 15 min run, up a steep hill and down the other side. Me, the dog, a friend and her dog. It wasn't meant to be so long but we got a bit carried away with a new track and got a bit lost, and had to ask some council men in a truck which way to go. They thought we were quite amusing, two daft women running around in the middle of no-where.
I'm not sure what Mollie (dog) thought of it, she has been doing a bit of running now but not so far, and up such a big hill. She has had fidgety knickers all evening, so I hope her little skinny doggy legs are not aching.
I must admit that these photos were not taken today, but I am un-willing to carry a camera and while running a big run (for me, I am sure most of the runners where I live would snoof at me calling this a big run). A camera is too bulky. Which is rather a shame, as we run in the most beautiful places, and today the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in the sky. And we were in the middle of nowhere, but so high we could see the sea over the other hills.

sunny weekend
Had a beautiful sunny weekend, the weather has been a bit intermittent this summer to say the least. Took the dog and the kids down to the river for a swim. This is a swimming hole that we can take the dog to, and we can walk here with dog off leash which is really lovely for her, unfortunately the council are trying to change things so that we can no longer do this! Not sure why? The doggy people of town are rousing for a fight. Hurrah!
These were taken on my rather un-tech cell-phone, but I rather like the atmospheric (out of focus, blurry, poor quality) effect this gives the photos. May the fab weather continue.
Oo the rocks are rather lovely.
"It's mighty cold in there mother"

We have a new dog. we were planning on getting a whippet puppy, but came home from a ten day break with a rescue dog, two year old lurcher. She is very sweet and pretty and clingy and will only toilet on the carpet, ha ha.
above this is her sister, who is also very pretty and sweet.
